Inventory mistakes that quietly cost money
Most stock losses are not theft. They are small habits that add up.
Never counting
Compare what is on the shelf with what the records say, at least monthly. Differences show you where losses happen.
No reorder level
Decide how low each item can go before you reorder, so you do not run out of fast sellers.
Mixing units
Buying by the box and selling by the piece causes errors. Record the conversion once and let the system do it.
Ignoring expiry dates
Stock that expires unsold is cash you threw away. Track dates and sell the oldest first.
Recording purchases late
If goods arrive today and are recorded next week, your stock and payables are wrong in between.
Not recording returns and damage
Every damaged or returned item that is not recorded makes your stock figure less reliable.
